What is ‘Assistant d'anglais’ ?
The English Language Assistants Programme (Assistant d’anglais) is a program offered by the Ministry of Education and is managed by France Education International (FEI) at the international level, and in India, it is offered and managed by the French Embassy/ Institut Francais. The programme enrols several Indian students annually for teaching English to French students at French Public Institutions. The programme allows Indian students to get to know more about the French language and culture while sharing their own language and culture. The duration of the posting is for 7 months, from 1st October to 30th April of next year.
English language assistants assist English language teachers in France to teach English to French students. English language assistants are placed in either primary or secondary schools. They are given an option to select 'primaire' or 'secondaire'. They are also given an option to select the place in France where they want to go. But remember, you might not always get your preferred level and place to teach.

Every year, in the month of October, the forms of France Education International and Institut Français Inde come out on the website of Institut Français in the month of October. Candidates get approximately 2 months to fill both the forms and collect all the required documents.
After the form filling, the results of the program generally come out in the month of March/April. IFI guides the candidates in the further process. All the required documents, visa process etc is communicated by IFI through mails. You are also informed of the schools and colleges you are going to work with. But, you have to find the accommodation on your own. France Education International is not responsible to provide you with any kind of accommodation and do not pay any rent or other expenses on your behalf.
Finally, IFI organises an orientation in Delhi, just before the departure of candidates. Candidates are expected to be present at the orientation and then fly from Delhi to France according to their convenience. The transport costs are neither borne by IFI nor France Education International.
After the departure
After the departure of assistants and their arrival in France, the assistants are expected to depart for their respective cities where the schools communicate the dates of orientation, the working days etc with the assistants.
